I saw this light that I like but it is supposed to have a hard wired installation and I don't have wiring in my walls to install it. Is there any way I can attach a plug to it so that I can just plug it in to an outlet?
Thank You

From Website:

Most table lamps, floor lamps, pendant fixtures, or even chandeliers are wired quite simply; you have two screws on your light bulb socket, and two wires coming from your power source - you just put one on each; the black (hot) wire on the dark screw, and the white (neutral) wire on the light colored screw. Now you are thinking there is no black (hot) and no white (neutral) wire, the lamp cord wire has two wires the same color, they may be gold, silver, black, white, or brown, but they are both the same color. If you look closely one has printing on it, that one is the black (hot), and the other is the white (neutral), which has ridges along it's side. Another thing you will notice is the prongs on the plug at the end of the cord has one prong that is wider than the other, the wider one is the white (neutral).

Yes you can. Not knowing what type of light this is can make many different possibilities. I assume that there are wires coming from the light that require more wire attachments.

The simplest thing I would try is this. Buy some wire, generally from a hardware store that comes on a roll. The wire you want is at least 16 gauge SJ wire. Just like a big extension cord. Buy the plug you want to put on that cord that fits that wire.

Attach the other end to the light wires. To do this you will need to also purchase wire nuts to fit on wire for safe attachment. You most likely will want Yellow ones to fit this wire, but may have to go to Red. Strip all wire back at least 1/2 inch. Apply your cord wire to the hard wire first, turning in a clock wise direction. Once this is done then put the wire nut on and tighten the same direction.

You can then hide the extra wires and wire nut inside of your light.

Good Luck

you can get all the stuff you need to make a lamp from your hard were shop. the plug end you just put on the wire and close it. it has two metal teeth that will make the connection and you can plug it in.

this can't be done quite so easily, and still be safe.... first you need to know the rating of the wires coming of the light, then you gotta match that rating with a plug... one of the three wires is a ground wire... unless you know what you're doing, i'd highly suggest not messing with it... it could easily burn down your house

Of course ive wired many lights in the same mannerism. just make sure that your black is hot, white is neutral and, green is ground. Hot on the plug is the smaller prong, usually gold color, screw, and neutral is the bigger prong, usually the silver screw.
