Well the Republic of Ireland is a good example of prosperity since becoming part of the EU. Scotland could do the same and probably better but there is a lot of old style Labour in Scotland so it might get worse before it got better. In any case with Gordon Brown in charge of the UK won't Scotland be independent ?

It might be better off if it had gained independence before all the north sea oil and gas reserves had been sold off, but ubfortunately even then, as is the case in all countries, greedy politicians would have had their pockets well lined before a single penny got to the people they supposedly represent.

thought we were already we never get mention on the BBC so yes I do think we would be richer if not financially at least culturally

All money would be funneled into places like Edinburgh and the well off would be even more loaded.
