I want only my high school students to answer this. I want to know why do you guys pressure each other to have sex. To have STDs or get pregnant. Why do you guys want people to do drugs. You should know they're not good for you. Why do you guys organize yourself into groups. To talk about people behind their back just because they're different. All i want to know. Is why. And i change my mind this is for everybody!

First, I am not a high school student, but I once was. Second, a lot of what teenagers do is because of a need to be independent from their parents. It's a pretty natural thing to do, but it's also scary for them (not that they would admit it). So they latch onto their peer group. Funny thing is as much as teenagers try to say that they are being "themselves" to everyone, they are desparately trying to fit in. This, too, is natural, but some of the behaviors (like doing drugs) can get them into big, big trouble. They try to get their peers to do the things they are so they feel good about what they are doing. Talking behind people's backs is another way of bonding and feeling that they belong. Sex is a whole 'nother issue, of course. Teenagers have an influx of hormones that they have never really had before and so are not quite sure what to do with them. As far as knowing the dangers of unprotected sex, drug use, alcohol use, and so on, teenagers have an unlimited capacity known as "it can't happen to me" AKA the teenage feeling of immortality. This is very difficult to overcome. Are you a high school student? Or?

Sex and drugs is simple curiousity. As for the groups everybody wants a sense of community. Can't justify talking behind peopl's backs.

very few people "pressure" or try to convince anyone to do drugs.... if you say no, they move on... As for talking about people behind their backs, we don't realize it until it's done to us and someone points out that we ourselves, have been jackasses. Even the best of people talk about others without even realizing it, it's not something you think about while you're doing it. The only people that are going to feel that something wrong is being said are people that can relate to the "flaw" being criticized in their peers.

Isn't it always "cool" to do the dangerous stigmatized things? When's the last time u heard someone say that studying is cool? Never. Sex, drugs, and all of the stupid crap is cool to teens because it probly gives them a sense of rebellion. Teens think they are so controlled by their parents that they want that freedom. Also, drugs and sex are adult things so teens probly do it to look more mature.
