There is a person a couple street and they cut some big limbs off a maple tree. He left the logs in his front yard. I was wondering how would I ask him if I can have the wood? What if he says no or he wants money? I dont know why Im asking this.

Ask him if he is using the wood or not -- it doesn't hurt to ask. Worst thing that could happen is he needs it -- and no harm done. If he isn't going to use it, then you'll have to cut it yourself with your chain saw and carry it off yourself. You are providing him with a service then of getting it off his property. The amount you pay him is dependent on the amount of wood, but if it is just tree limbs then don't go over $20

Just nicely ask your neighbor if he is going to use the limbs and if not you would be glad to clean up his yard and in the future if he does not want the wood, that u would gladly clean up his yard again. BJP

Offer to clear the wood - tell him you'll take it off his hands/clean up the lawn in exchange. If he says he wants to sell it then let him sell it. What are you out for asking?
