Does anyone have a sense of humor anymore? If you can't laugh at yourself, just crawl into a corner and die. Well, maybe that's too harsh. Just lighten up!

As a black person I must say that blacks get away with a lot of racist caricatures of different ethnicities. Even some of the black t.v. shows. If a white comedian or show made fun of a black person there would be an uproar.

Due to the cultural evolution of our society, we have developed a climate in which it is acceptable to joke about certain groups but not others. There are a few comedians (both black and white, but most notably black) who take this too far.

It is understandably frustrating to some people that it's acceptable for a black comedian to make derogatory jokes about white people, but not for a white comedian to make derogatory jokes about black people.

In an ideal world, all the jokes would be good-natured and not derogatory anyway, but it's not really a case of "lightening up." Unless you like to see your race made fun of by other ethnic groups, which most people don't.

I totally agree. I think that maybe it is because people think that a black comedian can get away with racist stuff and a white comedian can. That is not true though, turn on your TV people. Many whit comdedians say racist jokes. Chelsea Handler, Lisa Lempanely, Kathy Griffin, the list just goes on and on. I think it is funny. People make such a abig deal about race and racism, that it is funny to see it taken lightly.

All of my frineds are of another race (either black or asian, no white people at my school:but i dont mind that) and we joke about it all the time. I say racist but funny comments to them, and they say it to me. It is all in good humor.

I agree with you though. People lighten up! ITs only race, it means nothing!

Because when white people talk the way that black comedians do, or just black people in general, they are called racists.

i don't think there racist. I think that they have been told horrible but true stories about how white people treated black people years ago. Because of that i think they become prejudice.

As a Canadian, I find that much American comedy is directed towards some other person, culture or race. It is less offensive, and much more human, to laugh at oneself!

They're not racist. They just joke about race.
