My 3 1/2 month old has always had somewhat of a cough and has always breathed very loud, like he just needed to clear his throat, but the cough just seemed to get worse on the 16th and 17th, so we brought him in and the Dr said that he has croup, that was the 18th.. Well yesterday I took him to the Dr because he was very congested, he just scratched and scratched at his little nose trying to clear it up. The Dr said that it could still be his croup?? Does that make sense? He's not coughing like a seal anymore, but I can still feel the vibration from him breathing through his back?? The Dr said that there was nothing to worry about just to keep giving him his albuterol, through the nebulizer and try suctioning out his nose. She said that if he's not better by the 2nd (his 4 month checkup) she'll start looking into other reasons why he's like that? Anybody know anything about this?

I'd run him into Urgent Care and see what they say. It sounds to me like Croup could have turned into pneumonia or bronchitis and he probably needs an antibiotic

I would trust your dr at this point. The albuterol is probably making the croupy cough clear up. As for the vibration in his back, I bet it's the junk getting loosened up. Try this: go turn on your shower HOT.. Close up the bathroom. (no exhaust fan, closed door) Take your son in there and lay him on your lap belly down. Tilt him slightly forward so his head is the lowest point. Beat on his back. No really, beat on it!!! This will help push all that crud out of there. I had to do it with my son who ALWAYS had croup. It worked like a charm! Good luck!

it sounds like he just caught a virus. my daughter seems to get sick all the time so we have seen a lot of doctors. it can take 2 weeks or even more for colds to go away, and with babies his age, there really isnt any medicine you can give him. sometimes the cough will go away but he will still have other cold symptoms. have you tried vicks baby rub on his chest and under his nose? that may help a little. i would just go with your doctors advice unless if your son seems to be having a hard time breathing, (a sure sign of that is when he breathes, if you can see his ribs, hes having trouble breathing) if that happens take him to the ER. another thing you can try is put a humidifier in his room, that helps break up congestion. i know its so tough when the little ones are sick :( i hope he gets better.

If it seems like he's having trouble breathing, take him to the ER. If he's just congested, keep him sleeping in his carseat, boucy seat, swing (they don't have to be on), so that way he won't get so congested while he sleeps. You're his mother if you feel like something's not right take him to the ER. For future reference maybe get a different doctor if this one doesn't ease your mind.

It could be croup, allergies, asthma, brochitis, a cold, or anything else. He may need an anitbiotic if it doesn't clear up.

I'd ask for another opinion, or better yet, get your little one to the nearest Urgent Care. He could be asthmatic. My son was diagnosed with bronchitis, but found out he really had asthma. Please re-check the diagnosis.

Sorry, I have no experience, but I do think that you need to get another opinion. Plese go to A&E and have someone else look at your son.
