I know volunteer hours with kids is essential to getting into a Canadian teachers college. What is a good number of hours? Obviously the more the better, but how many hours should I put in to be considered a viable applicant?

you should have enought to cover 1 school day a week for a year. It's a good idea to have diverse experience (i.e. in a classroom and in the library running a reading clinic for example) Good luck
