the moon fell out of the sky? I'm just wondering, as you do!!!

Actually, the moon IS falling right at this very moment. The only force acting on it is the force of gravity by the Earth. However, the moon's tangential velocity to the Earth is so high, that it never reaches the ground.

But what would happen if the moon were to fall to the Earth? Who really knows?

-If it fell fast enough, like an asteroid, we might witness another mass extinction.
-The Earth would no longer experience tides, destroying important tidal ecosystems.
-The Earth's axial orbit may change -- a day will become longer, wind and ocean current patterns will change.
-The Earth's orbit around the Sun may change -- the climate will become cooler or hotter, the year may get longer or shorter, the Earth may collide with other objects in the solar system.
-There will be a lot more stars visible at night (if there's anyone left to see them) without interfering moonlight.
-No more lunar calendars -- key components of human cultures lost.

Interesting question, I just hope it never comes true!

The moon is falling. It is in freefall. :)
The only reason it doesn't hit Earth is because Earth moves out of the way. It is the same reason why the planets don't run into the sun, and the sun run into the middle of the galaxy.

it depends if it fell and the earth was for some reason not rotating then it might fall on us and also no tide

Interesting! Hmmm... I think I would probably die.
So I would wake up in Heaven.
