hi
i was wondering why ppl say that a person should marry a person from his/her own religion only. and why is it that we are separate, after all the basic point of all religions is integrity.
a guy i met today said -- that ok - say, i am a Sikh and my wife is Christian or Muslim , its ok as far as we have understanding but what about kids -- they would be confused - what religion to follow. but i think i don wanna teach my kids abt the difference between people but the oneness of our race as humans.
moreover, i love my own religion but for some reason i don like thinking of most of the people (orthodox) and i wish to settle with someone very broadminded and someone out of my own culture , but i don plan to impose my beliefs on her either.
but i was wondering if there are issues with children being confused or any other clashes like that.

My husband and I are both Christians. We understand things way better then some others can understand. We both are on the same page. I feel that it is the best way to do it!!

i agree with carnation54. True love has no barrier even that of religion.
My boyfirend is Muslim and i'm Catholic, we both have taught the other about our own religion. Our relationship works on the basis of Love, Trust, and Respect. One does not have to agree with the other but there must be respect. In regard to children and their religion we have both come to the conclusion that one should teach them ones belief but they at the end they decide what they believe, for in the end children are their own individuals.

Well...for my husband and I, religion is never an issue. He's a Catholic, and I'm a Buddhist. RESPECT, is the keyword here. About the children, well....I dont think they'll get confuse, they'll learn to decide which way to follow for themselves, no big deal.

I agree with SJ, it is just more of a joy when your on the same page. I mean opposites may attract but not when it comes to your religious beliefs, it is a burden.
