Math Modeling or Calculus 1...which would you rather take and why?

oh it's just a course requirement...I'm majoring in Psychology

take either,
they could be useful somehow, but mostly think about them as thinking excercises

Depends on what you are planning to major in, I would think. Calculus is generally required for most science majors.

Not sure what Math Modeling entails, but it would be perhaps applicable to biosciences where statistics and simple mathematical models need to be understood.

But, I can't see how Calculus would hurt. You could probably use Calculus to satisfy any major requirements, whereas, Math Modeling probably wouldn't satisfy any engineering major requirements.

i would guess that math modeling discusses how to make mathematical models, that is, how to write mathematical equations that describe or approximate real processes. such a course would be interesting. but most real world processes are quite complex. so without a good mathematical background, you won't have the skills to make good models. psychology, however, you might not require complicated models, since most psychologists don't have to take many math courses.
