If I say "Everything I tell you is a lie," am I telling you the truth or a lie?

if you say everything i tell you is a lie, that would mean that statement is infact a lie, so that statement is false. it does however mean thats its recipricale, everything i tell you is true, is accurate. So, everything you say is infact true. only this particular statement is false... i think.

Remember that before you make this statement we do not no whether you always lie or not. So let's look at three possibilities.

1) You never lie to us. Since you are claiming to lie, this cannot be the case.

2) You always lie to us, just as you say in this statement. But that means this statement of yours must itself be a lie. That makes it self-contradictory. Therefore

3) You sometimes lie to us, sometimes tell us the truth. In that case your saying "EVERYTHING I tell you is a lie" is itself a lie, since you do *sometimes* tell us the truth. There is no contradiction here at all.
