About 1 kW (or 1 BTU/sec) per square yard reaches the gound. The Earth collects an 8000 mile diameter of sunlight for 1.6 x 10^14 square yards so the whole Earth picks up about 1.6 x 10^14 BTU/sec or 1.3 x 10^19 BTU/24 hrs.
