My dad and I were talking while watching the Amish shooting on the news. I commented on how sad I thought it was I then he said, "The Amish are racist aren't they?" I had never thought about, but he thought they were. I asked my friend who is a Jehovah's witness, but mixed with Jewish and hispanic, and she said they were. Her mom had visted an Amish place, and she heard that they were. I was wondering if anyone knew anythin else about it.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not practice interfaith. They have no affiliation with any Amish religion.

No, they are not. The Amish community are very loving and gentle people they do not hate anyone or dislike any one based on skin tone or culture. they keep to themselves and do not bother anyone. This is a very untrue statement. I live in Ohio in Southern Ohio and there are a great deal of Amish in the surrounding community. They are very God fearing loving Christian people. If they were filled with hatred they would not have forgiven that man who killed their children. As they do not marry outside of their community. Their way of life has been the way that is is for over one-hundred years. They have very basic ideas and live off of the land, they have an outstanding reputation for the houses and furniture that they build. They have a trust system bakery out on one of the county roads, this is a bakery stand set up that everyday they place homemade baked goods on it and people stop by and leave the money and take the goods. It is unmanned. So, you see they live with ideas that are far gone from the way society has evolved, they choose not to have the modern conveniences that we have. i am sorry that someone who dare say such a thing about such a loving and giving peaceful people. God bless

LOL this is interesting! I just came from what seemed to be a Semi Amish town ( just passing through) and I thought I was in a parallel world. I doubt they are racist, this town was nothing but black and white. It was a little weird because you could see one almost-mansion type house next to an Amish house so you can see the huge contrast but the one guy I saw walking to the gas station- where there was a black employee/owner (who knows) was black and he seemed friendly to the black man...

BTW I'm not sure if Amish is considered a religion but Latino is most definitely NOT

They are not prejudice against anyone; it's a violation of their covenant. However, they do shun anyone (regardless of race) that are not Amish or are not a part of their community (including former Amish that choose to live with the "English"). Race has nothing to do with it.

The confusion comes in when you consider that the Amish originally came from a very small ethnic group in Germany. That leads outsiders to think that this similarity is proof of their racist policies. The truth is that the Amish is a religious group (a sect of Anabaptist, to be exact) and that anyone who chooses to follow their religion and agree to live by the rules of their community can join.

Hope that helps.

No, absolutely not. They are separatist, not racist. There is a tremendous difference. They seperate from the world because they believe the world is evil. I think they may be right in a lot of areas, but no way are they racist. The Amish came out of the Anabaptist movement in the 1600's in Europe. They are a strickly closed group. There were no black people around when they formed.

The Amish are a closed, tight knit community. I do not think it is fair to label them as racists. I have never seen one single account of an Amish person behaving in a racist fashion. They do not impose their ways on the outside world and we should not impose our biases on them.

I certainly have heard this from many religious human beings of extremely some faiths and ethnicities. it extremely is often from somebody who caught a glimpse of a song video from somebody like Lil' Wayne or somebody. it extremely is unquestionably hilarious once you think approximately that maximum strip golf equipment, porn empires, liquor shops and distributorships, drug cartels, etc. are all no longer Black. it extremely is like me seeing a White couple in a porn action picture and then seeing one on the mall and shifting removed from them in worry. I had an previous magazine (Nat Geo, i think of) I stored the place there have been some Black Amish. the two women they interviewed have been discussing how even Amish women gossip. in spite of everything, i'm extremely sorry. Stuff like that occurs to me each and all of the time via all forms of persons and it not at all ceases to amaze me. I want I had solutions for you. i be attentive to there might desire to be good Amish too, initially, merely out of knowledge, yet additionally using fact my cousins in Pennsylvania flow and purchase cakes from them and furniture each and all of the time and say they not at all have any issues. in keeping with possibility those weren't the Amish that do the pies and furniture?

Sigh.....The Amish people don't give a damn about ANYBODY which is why they remain isolated. But its a known fact that they do practice incest so what do you expect from people who practice inbreeding. I don't understand why they are being allowed to get away with it isn't incest against the law?
