Write down (or type) a list of Christmas presents you need to get and then go to a price comparison site like: Kelkoo -http://www.kelkoo.co.uk or PriceRunner -http://www.pricerunner.co.uk to find the cheapest prices. That's what I've done in the past!
Also keep an eye out for bargain prices in newspaper adverts, for the likes of Argos or Woolworths, as you can sometimes get great deals in the run up to Christmas.
If you want to try and get things cheaper then try your luck at eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk

Internet shopping can take the stress out of Xmas (if indeed you wish to partake of the commercial aspect of it). All the usual suspects help such as Amazon, Argos,Hamleys,Woolworths, Boots etc. Don't forget that you can order the food and drink too via the online supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsburys, Ocado(Waitrose),M&S Asda, Iceland & even the upmarket ones like Harrods). I would advise you to shop with a credit card, leave plenty of time, take advantage of gift wrapping where offered and have fun choosing and giving the gifts no matter how small or quirky.Set a budget and stick to it. Shopping early will free you from the compulsions in the final few weeks for which you may regret early in the new year, especially when the sales are on. If you're trying to hide the gifts, you may be able to setup delivery to another address if prying eyes are a problem.

Decide the kind of things you want to get otherwise you'll be browsing forever.
Don't leave it until the last minute - do it now if you can.
You can get some good deals on new things on eBay - buy from someone with lots of feedback.
Buy from online shops that clearly list a proper address etc, and that has a reasonable looking site. Dodgy sites don't tend to be as glossy. If you're not sure about the company, don't buy from them - there'll always be someone else selling the same.
When you're paying for goods, make sure you have a padlock symbol indicating its a secure transaction. Alternatively most reputable companies are OK with you sending a cheque. If you pay by credit card and something goes wrong (certainly in the UK) the credit card company should reimburse you. NEVER PAY CASH!!!!
Use a credit card with a small limit on it (say £50 - £100) so that in the unlikely event that something goes wrong you don't lose very much. Pay your credit card bill straight away (don't wait for an invoice) so that you you don't max it out.

Don't leave it till the last minute, or it may not turn up in time. I've used amazon a lot for christmas shopping when I know exactly what I'm looking for.
Look at several websites first to find out the best price once you've taken delivery into consideration. Start to have a look round the shops now to get some ideas then check the prices online.
Also look on websites like pricerunner where you can see other peoples opinions of the websites and if others have had problems with them.

I have successfully shopped for christmas online for the past 3 years (primarily because my family are in Glasgow, I'm in Dublin, and I don't want to take everything on a plane!)
I think the keys to christmas shopping online are 1) Start early, leaving plenty of time for delivery (although amazon are normally really good with late orders), and 2) Shop in well respected stores.
My most used sites are: amazon.co.uk, play.com, boots.co.uk (good range of items and 3 for 2 offers), and ebay.co.uk (although I'd normally ensure any ebay purchaches are done at the beginning of November to limit the impact of any unreliable sellers).
Hope that helps. Have fun!
