I'm with you... i can't remember what put me onto the subject, but it didn't take me long to find that there are alot of facts that just don't add up to the story that the US govt. has put out there, and absolute evidence that a cover up operation took place immeadiately... which can only imply that the govt. knew it was going to happen, was party to it, and had a cover up operation in place so that the reality would not be reveled.
but in answer to you question, people do seem to prefer to be fed information and it doesn't just apply to this situation alone. eg. when i was pregnant, soft cheese was off the menu in many books that i read, and was instructed by many women that this was the case because of risk of infection... it didn't take me long to find out that infact what the books really mean is unpasturised cheeses only, soft pasturised cheeses are infact ok... of course a book is catering for everyone, and assumes a low level of intellegence to ensure mistakes don't happen... but what astounded me was the number of intellegent women who took the information at face value and didn't bother to find out why the books where giving this information. worse still, when i explained the truth behind it, they actually didn't want to know because they have accepted a picture of the world that they live in where books only tell you the truth, and to have that challenged in anyway what so ever just wasn't what they wanted.
in the case of 9/11, the picture most people have of the world is that only bad people could possibly plan such a grievous thing... and they would never vote someone like that into government. to them it is just impossible... so to challenge is a waste of time, and only serves to strengthen their resolve that they are right and you are wrong. that is why questions like this, and many others like it always have people shouting conspirisy theory. they simply just want to accept the official story and believe that the officials they voted in would not lie to them.
personally i think the US govt. is aware of this weakness in the modern human and are exploiting it for every thing that they can get. super scarey stuff.

What I can't understand is how people can claim Bush was behind 9/11 and that he's an illiterate mentally defective boob. If he planned it, it worked and has at least two thirds of us fooled.
Let's not think the federal government did this, we can prove that's untrue, it's all about Bush or it's total hogwash.
The same government that dicked up so badly in the hostage rescue in Iran and at Waco and at Ruby Ridge couldn't POSSIBLY have planned 9/11 as a secret.
It's either that guy you keep calling a total moron, GWB, or it was really the terrorists that say they did it all along.
btw... buildings really do collapse JUST LIKE THAT.
Oh, and how come you conspiracy idiots never looked at the Murragh building? Top down views of the damage with the support structure hilighted proves there were secondary explosions. Think maybe the federal government might have had some explosives stored there that they're allowed to have but not store in a building constructed that way?
But no, GWB wasn't president then so we don't really care, do we.

I always treat anything I hear or see on the BBC news with a degree of scepticism. One news story I completely believe is that of fake documents being smuggled into the National Archive.

Because much of what is called "documented fact" is really some agenda-driven blog site or website underwritten by partisan contributors. Just because it is on the Internet does NOT make it true, my friend.

well, "conspiracy theory" is a lazy term. i'm not saying i agree with everything you said, but to dismiss ideas as "conspiracy" is ridiculous. "Conspiracy" simply means that people work together to ensure they benefit from events (ie to manipulate them for their own gain).
you don't believe in conspiracy? it means you don't believe that people with power are trying to control as much as they can. that's stupid:
rearrange the words: always have they been and always will they be

Conspiracy nut cases want to bend the truth to fit their own little political agenda. If the story doesn't fit there little storyline they want it to reflect there crazy beliefs!
