Do you mean like make your own person and live a life? Or do you mean like science fiction? Or do you mean mass multiplayer where you still make your own person?
Well, www.puzzlepirates.com is a GREAT game. You create your own pirate and live a life. You can sail ships, buy clothes, have a house, make friends, join crews, own islands, swordfight, play poker, and much more! It is a mass mulitplayer game, and it is so fun!
If you would like the game to be free, when you have the game window up choose the "Viridian" ocean by clicking the change button.

Guild wars cost munny to buy but is is free to play and is about 5 times better then runscape and maple story

Virtual? I dont really understand, but this game is an RPG.
