If you look at the finished product then Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, remains the best striker at United.
Alex Ferguson suffers no fools, injury or no, if your time is up, it is up. The fact he stood by Ole, suggests that he knows Ole, still has it in him, to score the crucial goals for United.

Rooney of course has 6-8 good years ahead of him. He represents the future.

Manchester United have so many good players and the system they play is not conducive to a single striker. That's why their goals are scored my many of the team rather than just one or two. Opposing sides therefore don't know who to mark. United have had some great strikers over the years. At present Rooney is most technically gifted, Saha keeps slipping them in but just look at the form of Ole. After a couple of years out with bad injuries he comes back fresh as ever and is scoring freely. Hey, and don't forget the goal he got against Bayern. Classic, eh?

Man United don't really play out and out strikers so its hard to pass judgement on who's the best. Wayne Rooney is definitely the best forward they've got, but Saha and Solskjaer would probably make better strikers than him.

it used to be Ruud van Nistelrooy but now he has left th eclub so the honour now goes to Wayne Rooney, back at his best against Bolton Wanderers yesterdaym scoring a hattrick.

Well, obviously, since Van Nielstrooy packed his bags and headed to Real Madrid, it's Wayne Rooney, because he has no competition!
