whatever you do dont spend all your time entertaining your baby they can amuse them selves and even at 9 weeks they can use their sight and hands so let him look and learn!!

if you constantly entertain your son then he will probably grow up not knowing how to use his imagination so leave him to play!!

my son is 22 months now and if im making dinner or cleaning then he will happily play for up to an hour on his own then he will want me to start him off in another activity, so ill play with him for 15 mins or so then get back to what i was doing!!

it will pay off to let him play on his own for a while!!

p.s. obviously all babies still need constant supervision while playing so dont leave him where you cant see or hear him!!

Hello :)
Congrats on the new baby!
Enjoy it as much as you can, they grow so fast! I am a proud mother of a 3 year old, and the time has flown by, it truely is amazing! I had some toys that you could use on the floor. Just set them up and watch the baby, you will feel so much better while you are taking time for yourself. Just make sure the toys have music, lights, sounds or motions. They love it. Also if you just put the little one in the crib or play pen for half an hour, with a toy that plays music, they will love that too!! Trust me it works! And even if you feel guilty, since you are a stay at home mom, just keep it in a routine on a daily basis, and you'll feel much better about it. Make sure you take "me" time for yourself! You deserve it and you need it!! Best of luck to you and yours!

Oh you can play with him I have a very very large family my antie has 10 kids, my uncle has 8, and my mom has 8 of us im 18 and im the oldesT, plus 17 and 16 year old sisters have two kids each living at my house now there are 6 babies still in diapers9 we are having trouble potty training my 3 yr old brother)..anyways form all this i have learned the more playful you are with the newborn(well 2-6 mnths) the earlier he' learn ta laugh. See theres alway a little kid playing with the babies when they're up, you really dont have to be so gentle with the little ones as scared or uninformed parents are(not in a physical way) gut you can be a little loud and act goofy make a funny face tickle him well keep trying like once a week under his armpit or right next to it, put him in his chair while you do some thing like cook or sweep or laundry, ect. tell him a story or just talk while your doing whatever your doing he'l watch you move around or move something around and the noise of your voice wil keep him entertained, always talk to your baby espesially do goofy things or faces or a dance(when your alone or with some one you are comfy around). they love black an white things(like snopby ar a cow stuffed animal) and some times they'll be content just chewing on their hand for 15 minutes Tummy time is also very important as long as he'll take twice a day it will amaze you of how one day hell ift it up for 20 sec and repeat after hes rested, the next week hell hold it up for 40 secoconds, and before ya know it hes lifting is chest up too!!!!! your with him 24 hours a day, but he should sleep at least 16 hours a day so it passes so easely especially when you hace arrends ta run...im with four 3mth old babies(my mom my two sisters anmy auntie all had babies in july) fom 7am til about four so im making silly faces and dances and they're observing meALLLLLL DAY long !!!!!!!!! also they've all been laughing for about a month. well good luck well acuaully nobody should need luck with raising a child so I hope you let your motherly instincts guide your way....

You shouldn't feel guilty at all! 9 week-olds can be kindof boring. I LOVE babies, but that young there isn't much they do. You can hold him and cuddle him while you're watching tv. You can talk to him and sing to him during commercials. In order to be the best mom you can be you need to be sane, and if it takes some tv time for that to happen, so be it! Just the fact that you're concerned shows what a great mother you are! He'll start holding toys and showing more interest in toys and pictures and books, etc. very soon. :)

Don't feel guilty for not being able to five your baby ALL your attention. Life happens. (I take it this is your first. Just tell yourself he's getting as much or more attention from you than a second child will get!) Talking, singing, touch, nursing/feeding, gentleness....these are adequate social interactions for a 9 week old baby.
You're doing great!

I suggest tummy time. He may only lay on the floor and not move but you will really set him up for later. Most babies who dont get tummy time at younger ages cry and fuss when put on their tummies later to try to crawl.

Do not feel guilty. If you have your son with you all the time and that he will not know how to entertain himself later. Baby swings are wonderful as well. My son REALLY loved laying on his boppy under the lamp on the sofa. I would sit next to him. He would just laugh and kick and carry on. He was SO fasicnated.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

A baby swing is a good fun place for a 9 week old. Babies just like to be with you and watch you and feel your love.

babys are easy. You don't always have to entertain them. Get a bouncer chair of a swing and just let him be able to watch you , or the t.v. or outside and he will be just fine. My babys loved to sit in the wwing in front of the living room window. They watch cars, and birds, and people walking by, they don't always have to be bothered.
