I believe most people need between 7 to 8 hours of sound sleep a day. If you can function with only 5 - 6 hours and find that you do not get tired and mentally fatigued easily it just might be fine with your body.
I had a friend that had a specific disease and all he needed was 2 hours of sleep a night. He worked two job - very technical high end jobs and he has keys to my house and he would come in a 3 AM and type up papers on my computer and leave before I would get up and he is still alive and doing well - I am not sure why but he can succeed on 2 hours of sleep a night - He does expect that he will die young with this disease.
Hope that helps YAWN - this writting has made me sleepy

I wish for a night of 5-6 hours. Medication isn't even helping, I'm lucky if I have 4 hours.

There is an old adage that goes:
A man needs 6 hours sleep
a woman needs 8
a child needs 10
and only a fool needs more than 10

make it 6-7 hrs a day .... at least
but as said earlier .... everyone is different .. mite be enough for some . mite not be for others
but wat is more important is the routine you go through while u r awake ........... a healthy but light breakfast is very important .......... cuz simply is the most important meal of the day and sets the tone for the whole day ...........
so if u enjoy a healthy day (alcohol is also part of it ofcourse) a goodnite sleep of 5,6 or 7 hrs sleep is enough ............ for most of the people
