The Democratic Party is the Progressive Party, and there for their opponents are the anti-Progressives. Am I not being fair and balanced in my term?

anti progressive is a little offensive, and like you say, not necesarily accurate for all conservatives.

No, you are not. To suggest the Democrats are progressive is a stretch at best. Progressive would denote thinking in my book, and neither party is progressive. Progressive would mean that our elected officials are actually doing their jobs and representing us. Neither party is doing that. Progressive would suggest a party that pulls Americans together, not pulls us apart. The only progressive one can hope for is the American voter. You want progressive? Do yourself a favor and research the people running in your district before you vote.

Because it isn't positive. All political ideologies try to dominate the conversation, and cast the other parties as "responders" with no original ideas. You're being as fair as anyone.

Of course, there has been no rational discourse in this country for 30 years. Just propaganda. Bark, bark, bark. Win by shouting.

I'm liberal, not anti-tradition. I tell you straight out, I would rather lose an argument to an educated, well-spoken man or woman, than win an argument by insult or shouting. It's un-Christian.

Shameful what we do these days.

Conservatives came from the idea of conserving things the way they are- staying the same without change.

Liberals came from a more liberal, open view of things.

The idea of having both opposing parties means that things progress at a steady rate. People can't be overtaxed, nor can use their financial power to keep others enslaved.

Example- Conservatives were pro slavery and favored the Royals in the Revolution.
Liberals wanted government money use to find AIDS research, NASA and Cancer research, bold steps that were risky.

I WOULD CONSIDER YOU A MODERATE AND FAIR,YOU NEVER REALLY MAKE ME MAD BECAUSE YOUR VIEWS ARE CENTRAL AND HAVE A WORKING BASE THAT ALOT ON HERE FAIL TO SEE! THE FAR LEFT ON HERE HURT THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THIS IS ALL YOU HERE! I AM RIGHT AND HAVE BEEN CALLED A FASCIST,RACIST ,SCUM ,********,AZZHOLE, AND THOSE ARE THE NICE ONES! BUT I AM TRUELY A NEO-CON! I USE TO BE A DEMOCRAT AND STILL HOLD SOME OF THERE VALUES LIKE TAKING CARE OF CHILDREN UNDER 12 NO MATTER WHAT OR WHOM! I AM FOR WELFARE BUT ONLY WITH STRICT REFORM! I AM FOR BETTER CARE OF OUR ELDERLY! I AM FOR BETTER CARE OF OUR VETERANS AND THEM OF ALL SHOULD HAVE EVERY MEDICAL SYSTEM AVAILABLE TO THEM AT NO COST! SO WHEN I DO SPOUT OFF IT IS BECAUSE BACK IN 1988 I SAW THIS MOVE TO THE FAR LEFT COMING AND IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE! BUT ANTI PROGRESSIVE IS A BIT MUCH BUT LIKE I SAID,I RESPECT YOUR POINT OF VIEW AND YOU ARE ENTITLED TO IT!

It has kind of a negative connotation; like when people call pro-choice pro-abortion or pro-life anti-choice. A lot of times people use labels to help drive their own arguments, so it's not that surprising that people get defensive about it.

Conservatives do not conserve, neither do liberals liberate, just the opposite. The term "progressive" is also a misnomer.

To assume that about all Conservatives is wrong.

I come from a German heritage does that make me a Nazi?
No I am an American

I don't take offense. That's a euphemism for liberal. The only progress the Left is for is "progressing" away from the principles this nation was founded on, such as protecting preborn children under the law.
