Change both formulas in y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. When you do this you get y=-3x+6 and y=3x. Then you can graph the two equations (by plugging in a value for x and seeing what you get for y). Where these two equations equal is your answer.

You need to graph the lines. An earlier responder pointed out that in slope/intercept form these lines are y = -3x + 6 (which has a slope of -3/1 and a y-intercept of 6) and y = 3x (which has a slope of 3/1 and a y-intercept at the origin). The answer is the point (x,y) at which these two lines cross. In this case that will be the point (1,3). When the directions say "solve by graphing", though you MUST graph the equations, you can't just write down the answer.
