Having been an employer myself, and also a manager in a leading retail establishment, I can answer your question.

The modern new age employers do not have any respect for their employees. They are just numbers.

When I was an employer, all my staff had a say in the running of the business, because they were out there doing the job.

While I was in senior management within the retail food trade, I always listened to my staff, and helped them when ever possible, but higher authority's did not like this, and so I left.

Employers do listen to their staff, but unfortunately, they are now like me, out of work.

Some employers are only interested in you making money for them, but a really good supervisor will actually listen to you.
