I have a 95 aturn.standard....engine races at idle stays about 2500 rpms-what could be causing this????

using alot of gas and worried about engine...

sorry never heard of a ATURN... but i know saturns are horrible cars dont ever buy one

Check the idle, it could be stuck and can be adjusted.
