I think there's a few reasons. Someone else mentioned that it's more common amongst younger girls. I think this is because they tend to buy cheaper brands of make-up, sometimes from market stalls etc where there isn't much choice, you've got light, orange, medium orange or dark orange!

Then there are the girls who spend a little more but test the colour on their hand in artificial light rather than on their jaw in natural light.

The Dale Winton look has been around for a few years and was perpetuated further by the controversial Tango Man ads which were run on UK television for approximtely two years.

Teenage females thought that if Dale could pull young men then so could they if they emulated the skin colour.

Known in Southern UK circles as 'That giwl az jist been tayhngowed' . In the North its just known as 'That lass must be fugly as owt like, lookata shiz covered asel in clarts' .

Its all shiznast really.

I don't know but it's SERIOUSLY getting out of hand!

I don't think it's just make-up confined to the face but all this fake tan palaver as well. Sometimes people can put so much on that they look really grubby and dirty. I think they're aspiring to live up to a certain lifestyle that promotes girls "taking care of themselves" meaning designer clothes, hair extensions, manicured nails, and of course an all over tan.

It's good to take pride in you appearance, but when you leave your house in a designer business suit, orange skin aglowing except for two large, extremely pale, circles at the back of your knees, you know you haven't quite got it right!

i have absolutely no idea and have wondered this for many years. Have you also noticed that the orange girls seem to think the best hair colours to accessorise their citrus skin are either badly bleached or freakishly unnatural blue-black??? Perhaps laser eye surgery would help. Or just someone telling them that they look appalling.

When I am walking through a mall, you would not believe how many beauty "don'ts" I see. There are days I just want to walk up to someone and tell them about their mistakes. The only time I open my mouth is when my customers ask for my honest opinion and then we go from there.

because they want to look brown. What they should actually do is go in to a department store to get a suitably matched foundation (from £12) then add bronzer over the top to look tanned.

To look beautiful for you guys....
Although the orange colour probably shows that they do know how the best way to put make up on.

i cant believe that girls/woman in our day still cant work out what is the best colour for their foundation. its not rocket science. even if it was, there are enough cosmetic assistants in pharmacies and dept stores to help out. just so ya know, you should use a foundation as near to your natural colour as possible, less is more.
