I live in Oregon where there are Northern Spotted Owls. I doubt that any material used by Habitat for Humanity programs is lumber from their territory. Why do you attack a totally altruistic program comprised of volunteers to help the less fortunate? I know volunteers in the program. Their only reward is knowing they are helping others. Have you no soul? And if any group is trying to help endangered species it would be this one. I hope that attitudes like yours some day become endangered some day. You are not a conservative. You are liberal with the resources we have been provided with. I have worked in the woods(have you?) and I am the son of a logger and mill worker. Do you work at the mall? There needs to be a balance between what we harvest and the animals that may be lost forever.

I own a small lumber yard& iknow some enviroment people who are always asking me why I bought such a place because I am harming the earth. The first thing I ask them is where they live , then what their house is made of. Is it made 0f brick or wood. They usally change the subject. I buy most of my lumber from local mills but sometimes I have to order from the northwest. As for the Habitat for Humanity program I truly believe in it. I like it & believe in it so much I supplied the lumber for a local home at cost. I would have given it free but I was not allowed to by them.

Good question. Are you against Habitat for Humanity or just people who try and do good by giving others a place to live?
