Different dialect of English
Different spelling of English

Ooooh boy. . .some of the answers below are certainly interesting. As a Canadian girl, and proud of it, let me comment on a few. No offense meant to anyone.

1) Not everyone here says 'eh?'
2) We have many different dialects of English spoken here, all very different from those in the US. I sound quite American though, so I've been told (and no, that didn't offend me).
3) Our drinking age is actually 18 in one province (most notably, Alberta).
4) We are more liberal, that's for sure. Same-sex marriage is now legal throughout the country.
5) French isn't our 'main' language. It is actually a minority language, but an official language. We also have at least three different dialects of French spoken from coast to coast.
6) I have never worn flannel, and I don't use an axe. . .lol
7) We don't need to know French; it's just very useful. Much like Spanish in the US.
8) Ben Johnson (the 'druggie') does not represent us all.
9) By and large, most Canadians are very religious people. However, most of those do not force their beliefs upon others, nor do we feel threatened by those who don't believe the same as we do.
10) Canada is part of America. . .North America, that is.
11) We own guns, we drink beer (I personally think it's a vile drink); we use French Ticklers because they actually 'tickle', and cheap wine is better than none at all.
12) We hunt, we fish, I drive an SUV because a truck isn't a practical family vehicle for me, I don't know what the hell a Vespa scooter is, and I hate the taste, sight and smell of fish.
13) We are not p*ssies. We just don't believe that war is the best answer for anything. And our flag is beautiful, and we can fly it proudly, and even display it when travelling abroad.

LOL. . .I hope this clears up a few things. And who the heck gave me a thumbs down?! LMAO :)

Generally, in my experience, Canadians are more laid back and less opinionated. Canadians are also not as PC, but at the same time more tolerant towards other's behaviors than most Americans. Probably because It is not as religious up there.

eh? vs what?
Just Kidding.

All I really know about this is from the Canadians that I have met. They definitely don't want to be "lumped" together with US citizens. The Canadians I have met have been fiercely proud of their citizenship and their homeland "north of the border".

Most of the time I have spent in Canada has been very delightful and the people; kind and hospitable.

Americans have the right to bear arms. Canadians have the right to bear breasts. Our money is prettier. Our beer is better. We have the Trailer Park Boys. You have Larry the Cable Guy. I am Canadian. I love you, man!

Slight accent difference. Most Canadians can't stand the boring format of baseball, and would much prefer hockey. The world are much nicer to Canadian tourists.
