Implementation worldwide

In some countries which have laws on "racial equality", and "affirmative action" is rendered illegal by a requirement to treat all races equally.

This approach of equal treatment is sometimes described as being "race-blind", in hopes that it is effective against discrimination without engaging in reverse discrimination.

In such countries, the focus tends to be on ensuring equal opportunity and, for example, targeted advertising campaigns to encourage ethnic minority candidates to join the police force. This is sometimes described as "positive action", as opposed to "positive discrimination".

It's time for the USA to catch up to the rest of the world!

No. Affirmative action isn't used just for blacks...it also helps women and the disabled. So when you take it away, you also take away grant money for women who start their own businesses, not to mention scholarship money for non-whites and women, and those assistance programs for the disabled. It is also responsible for medicare and other programs to help those families in low-income areas, including the whites who live in those areas.

Yes it should be made illegal. It discriminates against other races. And that makes it racist. When it was implemented it was OK. It never was a good thing. It taught blacks that they could get a job by being second class. It taught them that they did not have to work for a job, and then after they got the job, in many cases it taught them that they could get away with not doing that job. Now they are having to give in to illegal aliens. Figure that one out. Time and time again, our government has screwed up in the name of helping others. I am proud to say that blacks are finally understanding that to succeed, you have to work at it. And I a seeing real pride in blacks these days. The "I am entitled", stuff is finally going away.
