Pregnant women should not drink wine at any stage of their pregnancy. Any type of alcoholic beverage can cause birth defects especially during the first 24 weeks of gestation. Another problem is that even one glass of wine can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, where the baby is born with side effects from alcohol consumption. These side effects can cause facial disturbances, mental retardation, illness and other life long issues.

The same as above goes for any alcoholic beverage, and a woman should avoid drinking even before she is trying to get pregnant. Therefore, if she is trying and does become pregnant there will be no mistake that she will accidently drink while she is pregnant in her first month or before she sees a doctor.

Therefore, avoid alcohol at any cost. If you know someone who has a drinking problem and can not stop during their pregnancy please refer them to an alcohol counseling center at your nearest hospital.

Alcohol does it's worst damage in the 1st trimester, but it is still unsafe for you to drink wine or any alcoholic beverage.

You're almost there tho- and when the baby is born, pump some extra milk for them and then you can have a nice glass of wine! (Pump the milk after that and discard it)

While it's seems like one glass of wine will do nothing, it's not something that I would suggest you try out. You've waited this long without any alcoholic beverages, you only have about 1 week left, you can definitely wait.

It will not hurt to have an occasional glass of wine while pregnant.

This does not mean drinking every day. Remember wine is from grapes, the Dr. wouldn't stop you from eating grapes.

Moderation in all things.

Alcohol in any amount can harm the baby. Even in small doses. Plus, it adds up in the baby's system.

Even small amounts can lead to FAE-fetal alcohol effects or, at large amounts, FAS-fetal alcohol syndrome.
