On July 20th, l969, Apollo 11 landed on the moon in an area known as the sea of tranquility. I believe there were six more landings after that. The Apollo astronauts left lots of stuff on the moon, which can be seen quite clearly from the earth with the proper telescopes. The skeptics have a hard time explaining that.

The first time they walked on the moon was July, 1969. Not sure about the first time the went and came back without walking. Must have been a year or two before that.

Technically, men stepped foot on the moon in 1969, but they visited the moon in December 1968. They orbited the moon and then returned.
