My Jeep dropped down to 12 volts on the dash gauge, then down to basically zero - like my alternator stopped working - I replaced the alternator, and it is still only on 12 volts not the usual 14 - 15...I made sure all was hooked up, and the belt is more or less tight - I need to look at the battery terminals and since they are real loose - I am going to replace them tomorrow - Thanks

you jeep uses a voltage regulator controlled by the computor and you will need to have the vehicle scanned to see if the computor is telling it to charge. there are aftermarket kits to put the voltage rugulator back on the alternator but not for the do-it-yourselfer. check everything else especially the batt cable ends

Can't say that I ever saw one on my 97. You might want to hook-up a different gauge and see what it reads. Chances are that maybe your gauge is going bad.
