Every baseball fan in New York wanted and expected to get a Subway Series between the Yankees and the Mets... We take our bantering back and forth on who rules New York a little higher.
It didn't come out like it did on paper.
All of us here are wondering what went wrong...
I could not root for the team that beat the Yankees (because I'm a Yankee fan). I was going for the Cardinals... I wanted a sweep, but 4 -1 is okay too. The Cardinals took advantage of the opportunities given to them which is what winners do.

The Tigers messed up by losing game 1 of the series. As the team with the extra game, you cannot afford to lose games 1 and 2. You must win those games, because even if the Cards were to win the middle 3 games, the Tigers are at home with the chance to win game 6, tie series at 3 and then game 7 at home as well. You open up a bad can of worms when you lose game 1 after a week's rest.
Also, the Tigers were a very young team, with the exception of a couple of players. They were up against a Cardinals team, who went through harder competition to get to the World Series and winning it. The Tigers capewalked to the World Series and thought the Cardinals will fold just as the Yankees and A's did.
Good pitching stops good hiting. Just ask the Yankees, and Mets. The Tigers surely did not help their cause with all of their pitching errors, but it just goes to show you how experience pays off.

the cardinals won it but the tigers helped them. The tigers gave up those 2 runs in the last game but the tigers really messed up game 3, 4, and 1. congrats to the cardinals for winning it. I believed in them all along. They definetely deserve it more then the tigers. Tigers have really improved, but it was just not enough.
Good luck to all teams in the 2007 year.

The Cardinals won it and the Tigers lost it. The Cardinals pitching finally came around as they should have all season, but Tiger errors cost them a lot too.

Tigers lost it big time, the Cards figured it out after the secound game, hit it to the pitcher. The defense played by the pitching staff of Detroit was horrible. This was supposed to be a good series, i was hoping for 7 games but the way the Tigers played I was happy to see 5. I hope that next Leyland puts in more time working on the pitching staff's defense.

Tigers lost it. To many errors. The Cardinals did capitilize on those errors but still the tigers lost it.
