I was going to say Bruce Bochy but the Giants got him. Joe Girardi says he will be in the booth for the 2007 season so I think the A's will either get Dusty Baker or hire from within

It won't be a typical "baseball guy". So I doubt it will be Joe Girardi.
Billy Beane has his style of baseball - just read the Moneyball book. He wants his Manager to pencil in the lineup and, essentially, not manage the team.
So I expect it to be someone who can take marching orders from Beane. I'm betting on Bob Geron.

Macha was disrespected big time there. Sounds like the owner has a Steinbrenner-complex, except without the championships.
I could see Dusty Baker there.
Maybe Girardi, but he's better for the National League if you ask me.

Somebody who is happy to have a very good team, but also work for management who will always let just enough top tier players get away to prevent them from being an elite team.
PS. Ken Macha WAS fired .. and then rehired!

Joe Girardi. The Cubbies missed getting him but someone should. He is a great manager. BTW the Cubs were wrong!

Ken Macha. I think he deserves one last year and if they don't make the World Series or win it then I think he'll either resign or get fired by the A's management.
