values are hard to understand as being the same as the ones taught by Jesus.

Does anyone remember the Christian left when the word Christian is thought of..

I feel many of the Christian right support things Jesus would not approve of SO I want to know
is 1.why do they ignore the teachings of the one they say they follow,
2. do more people hate Christians due to Bush and Christian right and
3.does anyone remember there are Christians on the left who disagree with them?

If you must get political, you must, but at least address these three specific questions in your answer especially the 2nd one as to effect of Bush and religious right on people's views/hatred of christians and is the hatred for Christains escalating due to this.

planksheer, although I agree with all the rest of your post, real christians SHOULD be involved in politics trying to change the wrong things our government does and stasnding for the good...and trying to improve peopl's life here and worldwide..we can't leave it all for the bad guys to do as they want..

EDIT to pearl--it is hard being prolife and a democrat (but 43% of dems agree with my prolife stance)..I support stem cell research s it uses only embryos that are frozen and/or disgarded from IVF and not from others sources. These embreos are already destroyed so why not use it to help people suffering from horrible diseases. It is emulating what jesus said in the sense using evil for good..making good come out of evil in a sense. It must be hard on you as a christian prolifers supporting a party that for all their years in power in all three branches of government has done absolutley nothing about abortion except use it to get votes. Better if you are prolife to work individually to save lives and to support the party whose policies prevent 20% of babies from being aborted as 20% of abortions are done for economic reasons and when people have no health care, jobs, working 2 or 3 jobs, etc, they are much more likelty to choose abortion. Abortions were the lower since roe v wade

2006-10-28 12:16:21 · update #2

under Clinto due to the thriving economy..they are way up under Bush so by not supporting the party where many unborn lives are saved via aid to the mom through ecoomy, programs etc, you are indirectly causing the life of 20% of all abortions which is 880 babies a day. I choose to go with the party that actually prevents abortions rather than the one with the good rhetoric but no action. It must be hard for you supportig a party that kills so many by the use of depleted uranium that has birth defects in Iraq up 1000% (the worse I ever saw..google the words extreme birth deformities and take a look if you can stomach it)Plus our own troops have kids with missing limbs and eyes due to their exposure to DU, cancer up 1000%, and gulf war type syndromes (in all four places we used this WMD) and affects people thus for 4 1/2 billion years and has sread to 15 neighboring countires killing, sickening, and deforming and altering DNA, it must be hard to support torture and loss of civil rights

and so much more Reps do..see my answer here (last one) so a few of the many moral values I share that democrats have..no the dems or reps don'tr entirely meet my values as a Christian but dems by far are superior. I say this respectfully..but really wanted to address your statement that it must be hard to be a Christian and dem..I could not stand before Jesus someday knowing I voted to support a party guilty of the tremendopus evil reps do and that so roundly ignore the poor and least among us that Jesus loved.

Sidney while I strongly agree with the bulk f your psot, I speak to many young people in the US and am opolitically active with democrats and there IS TREMeNDOUS hatred for Christians...so you are incorrect in saying there is no hatred for christians..I have necountered it and that is what drove me to ask the question.

GAry thank you for our research and thoughts..but I don't think the real God is brutal and judgmental as evidenced by the treachings of Jesus...perhaps you mean the religious right's depiction of
god based on their own wrong interpretation of the scriptures, false prophets, etc.??Not sure what you meant there

txwebber--I agree. I think when revaltions warns if false prophets in the end times leading Chritians astray, he was describing people like Pat Robertson, Dobson, and Rod Parsley (who though they may be sincere are misguided) and other vocal religious right leaders and today's sheep like Christians who don't see the vast discrepencies between what the reps in power do and the teachings of Jesus are the ones in Revalations being led astray. It takes a lot of insight and prayer for them to be honest enough to truly reexamine their thinking and what they are taught..especially the lie that Christians can't be democrats and dems have no moral values.

jl_jack09--I see you got my question on the blog..thans so much--appreciate that.

So agree with you about Fr Chuck..(his avatar freaks me out too-what a representative of one's persona). He may well be Rush..heaven help him..hope he reads my response to him in the other question.

edit to free gallows humor--I have noticed a correlation with IQ amnd party stance..the further left you go, the higher the IQ..this probably correlates with the associated traits of gifted IQ (seeing the big picture, synethesizing and seeing correlations and connections, high regard for humanitarian issues, high empathy, etc)..in my political circles, many of the activists are highly intelligence, knowledgeable, motivated, and educated. Notice 1 in 7 possessors are liberals. Rebs are intelligent though as far as making money for themselves and how to con people, etc

I also heard that the Bush administration laughs at high profile religious right leaders behind their backs and calls them "nuts"..just read this, in fact.

Gary--saw your edit--yes, absolutely..isn't that funny that Jesus was such a liberal and they do all thes opposite things in his name and call it moral. He was the original bleeding heart liberal..I guess they just remake his teachings over in their minfds to make it fit their views and twist or ignore his views. They are really defending their own views and pretending they are following him..such hypocrisy certainly matches the pharasees (I am talking in generalities and not every single Christian republican. I agree it is due to them hpeope are showing more hate towards Christians. There are none so blind as they that will not see as the song goes. Thanks for adding that edit and clarifying things.

Who would Jesus bomb ?

Back in the day... neither Left nor Right pandered to the religious sector... (must have been that whole seperation of church and state CONSTITUTION thingy)

But the Right was dying and sold out... and it saved them.
(Remember, the Right is about protecting a select minority... the elite, the mega-rich, and business capital, but they need the numbers of the religious sector to survive. They pretend they are the same... but... sometimes they forget.)

I'm sure there's plenty of pudding-heads that can't remember back that far or think that deeply... plus they have been programmed to have the answers told to them.

Anyone with an a decent IQ can see that these stem from the Bush administrations attempts to divide and conquer the collective group of Americans that are paying attention to what's really going on and don't like it.

Remember how they brought out the gay marriage, immigration, etc. issues from left field when they needed a distraction?

This is nothing new... standard operating procedure... it's in The Bible, The Art of War, The Quran, and Hitlers Mien Kampf.

I personally think the Christian Coalition is feeling greatly taken advantage of... and the GOP hiding Foley for power reasons sure didn't help either...

Still working on the blog. had some problems with the server. Check back often. this fr Tuck is a real work of art. Never takes a Christian stand on any issue. Always takes a Republican stand. This could very well be Rush Limpwade in disguise.
BTW, there are 1.8 billion who follow Islam. Many are in the USA.
Would a Christian nuke them all and kill them all? I would not, that would be a act of hate. Only about 15 percent are considered by experts to be "radical" muslims.
The brain washing starts with first graders, in Saudi Arabian schools. 15 of the 19 hi jackers were Saudis. The Saudis teach first graders that "every religion other than Islam is false". By fourth grade it progresses to "True belief means.. that you hate the polytheists and infidels but do not treat them un justly". In Isalm killing them can be just treatment. By eighth grade they learn of the many "condemable qualities of jews" In Ninth grade they turn to conflicts "it is part of God's wisdom that the struggle between the Muslims and the Jews should continue until the hour of judgement". The Saudi text describes the Crusades as the "origin of the clash between the muslims and the Christians".
Bush calls Saudi Arabia "an important ally and a partner in the war on terrorsism".

Um, are we talking about hate within the US? Or out of it?

In the US, no one hates Christians. They may think that they're a little obsessive at times but no hate. Of course, the main religion in the US is Christianity soooooo.....

They majority of the people that are making the rightist christian claims aren't really in it for the religion they just want power. That and they can't seem to see anyone else's point of view.

I'm a liberal. A progressive. Do I think Jesus would want us to help the poor? Yes. Do I think that Jesus would not want to help big corporations that suck the people dry? No. If Jesus were around now, he would want everyone to have everything that they needed and live together in peace and harmony. (Which, I guess, would be communism- the textbook definition.)

No. People don't remember that there are Christians that are part of the left. Because they believe it when the Republicans and the evangelicals on tv say that you can't be a Christian and be a democrat.

And, now, I'll step off my soapbox.

The reason the majority of Christians are on the right is there tired of liberal judges who dream up a constitutional right to kill Innocent babies and Activist liberal judges who insist that somewhere in the constitution or was it the amendments or some where for some reason somebody once said.... no thy wrote something about separation of church and state. there tired of the ACLU declaring that Boy scouts are bad and Gays are good. To answer question #1 Christianity isn't about right or left it's about a personal relationship with God It's about knowing the difference between good and evil and it's about doing not just being. Question # 2 Some people have a hard time distinguishing good from evil Those people need to be converted Q#3 It's not all about you. If the Liberals had their way there would be no Christians There would be no churches. There would be no guns there would be no wars and we would all be bowing to Mecca 4 times a day

Being a Christian myself, I am often disgusted with the bad name conservatives give Christianity with their hatred of liberals and democrats.

Much of this hatred that conservatives proclaim that there is towards Christianity is brought on by the hate that the cons show towards liberals. Most liberals have no problem whatsoever with Christianity- just with those on the right who spew venom at the left.

Gospel According to Saint Luke
Chapter 8

5 The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 And other some fell upon a rock: and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 And other some fell among thorns, and the thorns growing up with it, choked it. 8 And other some fell upon good ground; and being sprung up, yielded fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, he cried out: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. 10 To whom he said: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing may not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 And they by the way side are they that hear; then the devil cometh, and taketh the word out of their heart, lest believing they should be saved. 13 Now they upon the rock, are they who when they hear, receive the word with joy: and these have no roots; for they believe for a while, and in time of temptation, they fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns, are they who have heard, and going their way, are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and yield no fruit. 15 But that on the good ground, are they who in a good and perfect heart, hearing the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit in patience.

Real Christians would not get involved in politics or follow Bush's
mandates. I thought the tennants of this faith was to help and aid others and act in an ethical and respectful fashion to others.
Certainly real Christians would not espouse invading and occupying other weakly defended countries.

People have always hated Christians I don't think President Bush has made them hate us any more than usual...
Yes there are many Christians on the left that dissagree with the Christian right....
That don't mean they are any less a Christian, just differing opions of Christianaity...
But you have to remember the left stand for womens rights (abortion) (stem cell research from fetuses) so it must be hard to be on the left and be a Christian!

No, janie, I do not think they hate Christians as Christians forgive and not hate. These people that claim to be Christians, the repuglicans are the ones that do the hating. They are not Christians they are morons and therefore to be forgiven as they do not know what they are doing.
