Some people tell me, anythings possible if you know what oyu want and you just go for it. Some people tell me that you take what you can get and try to make the best of it.
These are 2 completely opposite point of views. I just want to know if chasing your dreams is as a ridiculous a concept as so many people have over and over again, told me, or..is it just something that requires a whole lot of hard work?

Dreams are not always what we expect them to be. Sometimes that start out like you think they should and then you come to a fork in the road. Life isn't simple. You have to get up and work at it. Sometimes you are in the right place at the right time and other times you just missed the boat. Yep take your next step and then the next. If you get where your going then you have stopped dreaming. Just don't take everything to seriously. Laugh loud and often.

I don't beleive it is totally unrealistic or naive to chase your dreams. It could be a driving force for you to achieve great positive things (assuming your dreams involve great positive things), and indeed great men/women quote as having the pursuit of their dreams as the driving force behind their achievements. I beleive this is healthy and an honestly good way to approach life.
In a related sense, I've always felt that America embraced that concept and that is a good part of the reason why it became so great. I am not an American natural, but have always admired and respected this aspect of American society.
I have to add though, that if this dream becomes self destructive, then it is not worth pursuing...

I don't think the two pov's are mutually exclusive.
It is naive to expect for all of your dreams to come true exactly as you plan, but it also naive (and fatalistic) to view your life purely as an opportunity to fulfill somebody's else's dreams. Accepting fate and surrendering to it are two separate things. If you don't try to achieve your dreams then what will you, as ego, as an individual, have been here for? On my headstone I don't want it to read "Here lies Drone #1266960".
Go for it. We only live once. However, make sure not to live solely for tomorrow. Living in the could's and should be's can prohibit a person from enjoying life as it comes and appreciating what they do have and do achieve.

There is nothing wrong with chasing your dreams. If you dont go for it you may never know if you could have made them come true. What would have happened if people like Thomas Edison or The Wright Brothers had not chased their dreams. Musicians, actors, scientist, and inventors chase their dreams every day and so should you. Good luck and keep the dream alive.

Do you want to just throw your dreams away and forget it? Don't give up on your dreams. I gave up on my when I was young about going to art school because 4 people (parents and teachers) talked me out of it. I'm almost 40 now and regret that I didn't go for the dream back then, but am working on it now. Once you have a passion for that dream, do not let it go. If you let it go, you'll resent it. I've read in a few books that it's good to make a list of goals and what you are willing to do (within limits) to reach those goals. You are not being ridiculous...don't listen to them unless you want to "just settle".

The answer is on your desk in front of you. There are many things there, they were all once the millions of dreams of various people.
In a literal sense, they were dreams, and ideas that were drawn from subjective reality and turned into idea constructions. We are building this whole thing you see in front of you from the inside out.
Dreams are a must, your wildest dreams may however be just that, hehe. Take your best shot, if you don't get the four foot dog on the top shelf, the three foot cat on the next shelf down might fit better in your room. lol

When I'm living for a passion, my life is on greased grooves. When I'm in between passions, just living day to day and taking what I can get, life is really sucking.
Some dreams are very bad bets. But if the pursuit of your dream means you are living with a fire in your belly, you are on the right path. Just be ready to go a new direction if that path comes to a dead end.

No it does not require any hard work at all. The secret to having your dreams come true is to believe in your heart that they are already true. This is called the secret to everything in life.
People who believe that 'you have to take what you get', don't get anything because you can only get whatever it is that you ask for, and they asked for nothing, they expected nothing.
Your dreams are what your heart is asking for, and if it fits your purpose in life the universe will give you her gifts and answer you.
If you know what your dream is; your life purpose is to attain it.
Life is but a Dream.

It is never naive or unrealalistic to try to chase your dreams!! Without the ability to follow your dreams, life would be without meaning. Life began with a dream.

Without at all disecting your added text I offer this.
"There is nothing more vast, than ones imagination."
How it manifests is as important as how we define what we might do about it.
OK I'll answer to the first sentence.
To deny ones "Dreams" is to suppress possibilities, perhaps both negative as well as positive.
To believe in oneself is an insistence that the person explore.
"The Journey, can often be as fulfilling as any destination"
A large part of what might keep us on a path, or following a dream, is to not take defeat or rejection as a personal attack, and as an old cliche states, "Lift yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again."
