She should tell her friend and explain what has come about. It may or may not end the marriage but it is not your mom's fault for ending it possibly, for its the husband who is seeking outside the marriage. Remember, most women stick together and get through the hard times, especially with real true good friends. I'm 80% sure that your mom's friend will stick alongside your mom and kick the person who is doing wrong out.

I hope that your mom let him know how uncomfortable that made her. She should be clear with him that she thinks it is inappropriate. She might even try to guide him back to his wife. Your mother would certainly be in a great position to know all the the ways that her best friend is a good person and a good wife.
Your mother can be a good friend to these people by being understanding and reminding him of the commitment he made.

She doesn't have to mention it to the wife unless he continues to pursue your mother. Then she might distance herself from him. Hopefully, it will blow over. If it doesn't, she needs to continue to clearly state her disinterest while expressing her concern for his marriage and for her friendship. If this fails, she should tell her friend about his unfaithfulness.

this is a toughfy...it would probably be a good thing that your mom told her friend because if she doesn't then it's like lying to her best friend by keeping the secret...and your mom should probably talk to her friend's husband and say:

"you are married...and i am not going to risk my friendship just because you like me...i don't care if you like me but like me in secret...and know that i don't have ANY feelings for you..."

your mom should say something like that because then she can move on and still be friends with her best friend...the husband may be a little upset for a while but he will get over it and relize that he has a great wife already and doesn't need a new one :)

hope my answer helps,

bye

That is a very difficult situation. Her friend will be mad either way. So I think your mom should tape record her husband calling. She should make it clear to him once again that she has no interest in him nor would she hurt her friendship. She should also tell him that he should be ashamed of himself. Then, if he keeps harassing her or if she feels compelled to tell his wife, then she will have proof. Plus this will be a good way to prove her innocence if he gets mad and tells his wife that your mom was coming on to him.
You can buy those special tape recorders for phones at Radio Shack and probably at other electronics places.

wow. I think that your mom should tell the best friend. if she doesn't then your mom will fell horrible every time she speaks w/ the best friend. If the marrige ruins then your mom should tell the best friend that she would have wanted to know. I am sure the best friend will understand.

oh yeah.. make sure that your mom makes the point that she doesn't have feeling for the husband.

If your mom feels that letting it go is the best thing ,then it is. She knows her friend and how she will react and to be caught in the middle can be ugly.
Sounds like the husband will eventually leave, he's just trying to find somewhere to go.

your mom might want to have a talk with her friend about this. He might be cheating on his wife already. If they are best friends then things will be ok.

now on the other had your mom might be in the mists of a hot threesome could go that way too. ( sorry thats the bad side of my talking)

Your mom's worried about protecting a sham marriage? Shouldn't the priority be to worry about protecting her friend from the STD's this guy's bound to bring home to her? BTW...Is your Mom hot? LOL Sorry, had to say it! Good luck girl.

Your mother should tell her friends husband that she is flattered, but that she is not interested in him. She has had a long friendship with his wife that she cherishes and she will never do anything to jeopardize it.

It's better she does not saying nothing. Her friend will get mad at her if she tells her. Other then that let her lady friend find out on her own.
Peace!
