Its putting someone else before yourself and really meaning it (not just making a show of it!) Its putting your life on the line to save that person with out a second thought. Its sharing your life with someone. Its wanting to nurture and protect them and make them happy. It is unselfish.

The word Love is from Old English lufu, connected with Sanskrit lubh, 'to desire' and Latin lubere, 'to please'.
Dictionary's definition of love:
Love is a strong liking for someone. It's a strong passionate affection for another person.
Biblical definition of love: 1 Corithians
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things.
Love is a profound feeling of tender affection for or intense attraction to another. It is considered a deep, ineffable feeling shared in passionate or intimate interpersonal relationships. However, in different contexts, the word love has a variety of related but distinct meanings: in addition to romantic love, which is characterized by a mix of emotional and sexual desire, other forms include platonic love, religious love, familial love, and the more casual application of the term to anyone or anything that one considers strongly pleasurable, enjoyable, or desirable, including activities and foods. This diverse range of meanings in a single word is commonly contrasted with the plurality of Greek words for Love, reflecting the word's versatility and complexity.

Love is finding someone who is prepaired to share everything with you, all of your darkest thoughts and greatest desires and vice versa. Not JUST prepaired to share though, excited to share all of those intimacies, someone who smiles from the depth of their being when you say something that brings you joy and someone who knows the right way to empathise with you when you feel pain. Attraction is important but attraction comes from being truly relaxed with a person- if we are ill at ease with how a person looks OR acts, it's difficult to be attracted, this impacts on how we share emotionally and so part of the equation is missing. Opposites attract but attraction isn't the only important thing in love, it's just part of the equation, to be truly attracted you should be able to share and appreciate everything in eachother's lives.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres and love never fails.

Love is something special...it's something we can't say what's exactly and we don't know why someone is in love...it's something we can't explain but in the same time is like a bubble os soap, sooner or later it vanishes..but sometimes it isn't

I totally agree with monkeymagic6966.... I would never be able to describe love so well....
I would only add that, when you love someone (and he/she loves you back), you feel so complete!!! It just feel like you could achieve anything at all....
