I proposed to my wife at a Hallowe'en party. She was dressed as a hooker and I was dressed as a priest. That was 20 years ago...

We were sitting in a 24 hour buffet style restaurant when he shoved a jewelry box over to me and asked me in a childish voice if I would marry him. The ring was the ugliest ring (and cheapest) I'd ever seen. I knew he was a good guy, so I told him yes, but I told him that I wasn't wearing that ring. I love him. We've been happily married for 10 years. But even until today, I absolutely HATE the way that he proposed and I hate that he bought a cheap ring. There was a hotel not too far from where we were that had a beautiful waterfall fountain. He could've taken me there and gotten on one knee and proposed to me there. GUYS - whatever you do, please get on one knee, bring some flowers, ask in a romantic location (not at the gas station or an all you can eat restaurant), and if you can't afford an expensive ring, at least get something simple, a traditional engagement ring with a band and one diamond (NOT a diamond cluster).

my husband proposed to me by just asking if I wanted to get married, when we were alone, without a ring. We've been unhappily married for many years now and I see that if a man has the reverence for you to honor your beauty as a woman, he would admire you so much he would want to pull down the stars for you because he loved you so much. But since he couldn't do that he would prepare something special in his own way. That's when you know the admiration is there that he will respect you through all things. Unless he's just a show off and wants a big story to tell his friend, but you'd probably know if that were the case.

We were living together for about a year and a half and decided to get a joint checking account. When we went to the bank, we used our own first and (different) last names for the account.
One day a week or so later I was sitting on the end of the bed and my man came upstairs from getting the mail. He opened the checks that had just arrived, looked in the box and said while turning the box around for me to see, "I guess God wants us to get married." The printers had given me his last name! He got down on one knee and proposed and two months later we got married. That was 20 years ago - and we are still very much in love!

I actually proposed first. I had a small silver tray engraved with the question"Do you want to marry me?" I had the server put a piece of cheesecake on it, then waited for him to finish. I didn't get the response I had dreamed of, but 6 month later on New years Eve a got a surprise. When I finished my dessert at a different restaurant I found an answer on the same silver tray. He had a "Yes" engraved on the tray.

My husband called me for a "coffee" date on Thursday afternoon. He usually never does anything on the weekdays because he is a third shifter. I really never questioned it till I got off the phone and my oldest daughter rattled out:"he's going to propose to you mom I bet he is!" I went to the coffee shop where we had so many times before. I kept looking at his pockets to see if there was a ring box exposed. I couldn't see any so I figured I was wrong. He said he wanted to show me a site where his daughter had taken photos for her class at school. It was a quaint little park near where we lived. We were sitting watching the squirrels and he kept wondering how he was going to get my attention. We were talking and I said this would be a nice place to be proposed to someday. Flushed he said "Well I really don't think this ring will fit my finger, and I turned and he was down on one knee with my engagement ring sitting on his pinky finger, and he finally asked me to marry him.

She proposed to me, 26 years ago.
Face to Face in a long embrace,
she showed her love,
and confessed her desires,
ask if i would share those with her.
Her fear was great, that I might say no.
Her tears would flow, at what I would say
There face to face in that long embrace.
I met her eyes, and with a soft light kiss,
I did say yes, 26 years ago.
A wild ride it has been, like you would not believe.
She is older as am I, we have our family, we've had our problems
She is still very beautiful men and women still ask her out.
But she is still mine and me hers...
If it's love it matters not, How or who. it's just about the two of you.
just the two of you.

Well, it was the night that we planned to see a movie, so we drove to the cinema and look at the movie times, and it doesn't start till late, so we had 2 hours to spare. So we drove to the place where we first met, sat in the car and just talked, like what we did on our first date. Then, my hubby (boyfriend at the time) said I have something for you. He took out a family ring, he said to me that this ring was his great grandmother's, passed down to his grandmother, to his mom, and his mom gave it to him, and told him to give the ring to the girl that he wants to spend the rest of his life with. I was so touched, and there was this unexplainable feeling. I was so happy, and he put the ring on me. I still remember that night, and will always remember it for the rest of my life.

I went to his apartment where he had a dozen roses and a very sincere love letter written for me. After I finished reading the letter, he dropped on one knee and proposed. It was very sweet.

I sent her a banner that had to be unfurled at work. She had a co-worker help and actually her friend learned first of the proposal
