I only moved to the UK, recently and my neighbours next door (attached townhouse) are having a Halloween party right now. The son who handles the entertainment for the party is a DJ, so he has the loudest bassy system-My question is: What time are people allowed to carry on with a party, naturally assuming the party has loud music and people yapping loudly? There has to be a legal time, like in America, where after 10pm no loud disruptive noise (like this, and is keeping my 6 yr old up), so what are the laws regarding same in England???

The classless mrckent20, are you NOT reading in English, I said I have a six year old son, and the music is SO loud, he cannot sleep and he is getting disturbed. And keep your opinions of your mama to yourself (poor old cow)

I would have thought it prudent to put up with it this time otherwise you may be thought of as a trouble maker, maybe when you get to know the neighbours around you a united front may become the order of the day. I would think that a six year old is old enough not to worry too much once in a while
Perhaps they should have invited you.
Tone it down after 11pm, Quiet at 1230-0100.don`t forget lots of places are open at midnight. I have just returned home from my club where the music will finish at midnight and close at 1230.
and that is in a built up area.

Been there, There is NO legal time limit in England!
Call the police, and they MAY have a word with them, to make a legal noise pollution case, you will have to tape the noise and keep a note on the times of the disturbance, over several weeks!

I would suggest that you go and ask these people can they lower the volume of the music., because your six year old can't sleep. If this fails, and they take no notice, then call the police for advice and see if they can help. P.S. Dont call the emergency number for police.

Hey lighten up, it's a party. It's Saturday night... So your son is awake... play a game with him, or read him a story instead of sitting at the computer and moaning that he's awake!!! What on earth does your 6 year old need to be up early on a Sunday morning for anyhow? We all get an extra hour sleep tonight, so chill out and don't be so uptight. No wonder they didn't invite you to the party!!

11pm and you can call the community police out. They will come and ask them to turn down the music and if they put it up again they get into serious trouble but you should go round and ask them if they can turn down the music first as your child is eing kept awake. Most people will understand. If not then you will have to call the police.

yes all you have to do is ring your local council people and they will send around the noise team who will listen from outside and if they find it to loud they will know on there do and give them a warning if itstill goes on they take there equipment away nobody has to put up with the noise now it is illegeal - you can also get the no, off of the local police

why dont you ask them to turn it down a bit? Its only one night though, if they do it on a regular basis, then think about maybe taking things further. If you call the police then it will only cause more problems for you in the long run!!
