ask him for a copy of the divorce decree!

and if that isn't an option find out where his divorce took place that is public information you can request the copy yourself

In some counties you can go under the web site for the circuit clerk. In Illinois, you can put in Linda Frank, Champaign County Circuit clerk and pull up all kinds of stuff. I looked up my friends divorce and all it said was what the circumstances were such as irreconcilable differences and the date of the divorce. Not much else. It also says who the plantiff was and the defendant.

I doubt very much you can, you can go to the courthouse and view the file. But to my knowledge they don't place these online as its just a divorce proceeding.
