If you don't feel confortable messing with the registry you could just
install Firefox, then you can use either.
It is free and runs faster than IE so that's an idea.

Well, the first thing is to uninstall IE7. Start menu > Control Panel > Add/ Remove Program...> on the left side, click Add/ Remove Windows Components > choose IE 7 > Remove > [O.K.] > Reboot.
To restore IE 6, there is 2 things which you can try.
1. Option 1: If you are using Windows XP Pro or Home Edition, a system restore point is created when you installed IE 7. You can choose to use the "restore your computer to an earlier time" option. The only problem is how long ago did you installed IE 7. Remember, the system restore will also restore anything you did from the time of installation to uninstalling IE 7. The shorter the period the greater the chances are of restoring IE 6. Go to Start menu > Help and Support > Undo changes to your computer with system restore > restore your computer to an earlier time > choose the restore point just prior to installing IE 7 > Restore >Reboot.
2. Option 2: you remove IE 7 using the exact same steps mentioned above. You will need your Windows installation CD. In Control panel > Add/ Remove Programs > Add/ Remove Windows Component > Insert the CD (Do Not Choose to Install Windows) > Add > Choose IE 6 > [O.K.] > Reboot.

If you have system restore turned on, use that to go back to the date before you installed IE7.

Go to "add/remove programs" and delete it there. Then go to your "C" drive and make sure it's gone for sure.
