If it's a woman - or man - you've never met before, then you should watch your language to avoid causing offence. In this age of 'equality', when women of a certain age get drunk, fight and swear almost as much as men, it is a somewhat dated notion that women are more easily offended. But despite being old-fashioned, it's just good manners to avoid the blue language. Public discourse has been vulgarised so much even in the past ten years that if you can avoid it - and it's not hard - minding your language is a good thing. I hardly ever swear but when I do, it has a much greater impact than if I were like so many people who lack imagination and cuss every other word.

No. Men should speak decently ALL the time.
Besides the social issue, there's a problem with using strong language all the time: What do you have left to say that has any impact when you drop the Thanksgiving turkey?
More seriously, speach is to communicate. What does a strong word communicate, except that you're too lazy to think about what you really mean to say, so you throw one of 6-7 words at anything.

Why can't men use decent language all the time? My father would not use the word ''darn'' with women present, or not. He thought this was showing he was thinking a ''naughty'' word, and he would never do it. Then, alot of just casual words were ''naughty'' to him.

I think the idea of some words being labelled "bad" is @ss-inine. What makes that word so bad? It's just a collection of vowels and consonants. You can say very disrespectful things without using "bad words". I think that it is rude to talk about women being sluts or calling people stupid, etc. You can do all this without using "naughty words".
A person should be respectful of other people, no matter what their gender, however. But if you choose not to, why should a women not know and like/dislike you for just what you are? or calling people stupid, etc.

Yes. Because women should be afforded some class and grace and civility, like opening doors and treating them with general respect. I think there is room today for a refined man of confidence to succeed over a loudmouth, pervy braggart. Baseness is indicated by the use of base words.

if any man has any self-respect, he should do so. men should show respect to women in their usage of language because of the fact that most women do not want to be disrespected, they want to be treated like a lady, especially in public. in private it's another matter, provided they have a relationship with one another. when first meeting someone it shows intelligence along with respect to refrain from profanity, meaning, the man can show his ability to communicate in true and pure english. unless the woman uses profanity, the man should not do so. thanks for the soapbox and i'm POSITIVE i'll get quite a few "thumbs down" for my answer, but i really don't care.
