Assuming that there is no problem, my husband and I use the discharge method of determining our fertility. That is, vaginal discharge tends to be more viscous and easily stretched several inches (I used my thumb and forefinger). It sounds a little strange but we were able to concieve on the first month of actively trying after several months of observation while we continued to use contraceptives (barrier methods).

That's assuming that there are no fertility issues. To be sure, you may want to speak with a fertility expert or your OB/GYN.
