You pay taxes on your land line phones. it's not a matter of the government taxing free speech. But the government being as crooked as it is snuck in extra taxes on the cell phones as a way to get extra money instead of raising other taxes.

there's tax's on ever thing an the phone company even say that some are community tax's that are to go to school an other thing for the community an makes you wonder why there's a offset in the tax's when you think of all the tax's from wages an gas an lights an phones an sales etc.

Check you billing for your cell phone, if you contracted....say 29.99 a month, all the extra money you wind up paying...say 49 plus dollars, are all under the guise of taxes.

Do we do anything without pating taxes? No we don't. There are taxes on cell phones. The govt isn't taxing speach per se, but the means used to deliver that speach.

About half of our bill is taxes. There is no such thing as free speech when you have a cell phone.

I have a virgin Mobile phone (pay as you go) and everytime I use my credit card to put money on it, it is taxed. Is this what you're talking about?
