I love crafts, always have, but don't have any ideas right now! I can feel my hands and mind are set to do something these days, in detail, but I have no idea what... something easy, possibly detailed-- and original, etc. Thank you!

I liked cross-stitching at that age. Crochet is really good, too, because you can take it with you if you are working on small projects like granny squares.

The coolest craft I ever saw was left in my science desk by a previous occupant. He or she had taken the wire from a spiral notebook, and made it into a table -- on different day, I'd found a chair made out of wire. You just fool with it until it looks right, I guess. I think it needs a certain amount of talent and patience, though. It's not a paint-by-numbers sort of craft.

Tied pillows are coming into vogue as a craft just now. You buy a pillow form and some fleece. Measure the pillow form all the way around its middle; they're bigger than they look. Divide that measurement by 2. Add 10" to your answer. Make a pattern and cut two pieces of the fleece to fit the resulting answer. (If you started with a pillow form that measured 32" around, you'd divide that by 2 and get 16". Add 10" to that and get 26". If your pillow form is round, you'll cut a pattern for a 26" circle and then use your pattern to cut two of those from your fleece. To make a perfect circle any size, tie a pencil to a piece of string. Pin the string to the center of the circle -- find that by measuring -- leaving just the right length to reach half the diameter of the circle. It works like a giant compass. If your pillow form is square, make a pattern for a square with 26" sides, then cut two of those from your fleece.) Measuring carefully, make perpendicular 5" cuts about 3/4" apart all around the edge of your fleece pieces. Put the pillow form in the middle of one fleece piece and lay the other one on top of it. Tie all the little "tabs" together to make a no-sew pillow with fringe around the edge. These make fun Christmas gifts, too.

You need to take a walk through a LARGE craft store - something like a Michael's. I guarantee you will find more than a few things you want to do! If you don't have a store like that in your town, check out their website.

I think beading is very enjoyable and rewarding. I like to use silver and semi precious stones, but there is many other options. Leather cording and beads look are very in right now.

Are you learning to play some instrument?

You really need your hands and your mind to learn to play an instrument. If you decide to start with it, you must know you will need a long time and a big effort to accomplish the task, but it will give you many satisfactions (and many hard moments...).

Play music! Good luck!! ;-)
