(d) is the correct answer.
The hypothalamus is an important control center in the brain. It regulates body temperature, blood pressure, heartbeat, metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, and sugar levels in the blood. Through attachment to the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus also controls secretions that effect water balance and milk production in females. The hypothalamus also plays a role in the awareness of pleasure and pain, and it is thought to be involved in the expression of emotions, such as fear and rage, and in sexual behaviors. Despite its many important functions, the hypothalamus in humans is only about the size of an almond. Structurally, it is joined to the thalamus; the two work together to monitor the sleep-wake cycle (Walker, 1967). Injury to the hypothalamus can result in the inability of the body to control internal temperature, blood pressure, heartbeat, sugar levels, or metabolism. Damage to this are may also cause pituitary dysfunction, which can result in raised intracranial pressure, improper body fluid concentrations, irregular milk production in females, and irregular hormone levels in the body (which can cause all manner of other problems). Injury to the hypothalamus has also been associated with imbalances in pain and pleasure, with patients becoming confused and switching frequently between one and the other. Areas that used to respond to pleasurable stimuli can spontaneously start feeling pain and vice versa. Trauma to the hypothalamus can also cause irregular emotion control and sexual behavior. Finally, injury to this area can disrupt sleep-wake cycles (Guberman, 1994).

and Proprioception is "the process by which the body can vary muscle contraction in immediate response to incoming information regarding external forces," by utilizing stretch receptors in the muscles to keep track of the joint position in the body”

I THINK but I'm absolutely not sure, that it's D. The hypothalamus is AFAIK primarily a biochemistry manager, secreting all sorts of hormones and monitoring the state of the system on the molecular level, so proprioception seems most out of place to me among these four.

A prextual stop is a stop that is made for a legal traffic reason, but the intent of the stop is different. IE if you think someone is buying dope but you don't have enough reasonable suspicion to pull them over, you then pull them over when they fail to use a turn signal, failing to stop at a stop sign etc. Generally the officer will attempt to get consent to search, but can not search the car without any further information, probable cause, arrest, etc..

The US Supreme Court has ruled that pretexual stops are constitutional. If the driver violated a traffic law and the police stopped him but their real intent was to check for drugs, this is still legal. But if the state constitutional laws make pretextual stops illegal for a warrantless search, then the state law holds. Roy
