Weaver used to be a very good pitcher, who know what happened to him. (until now)

Jeff Weaver is a journeyman pitcher at best who got incredibly lucky at the right time. During the season when it is a little warmer and he is not pitching against a desperate team, he will show his prior form. THis is a guy who apparently has to pitch in the national league to be effective in any way and it is a crime that he will be able to parlay this single win into a fat contract. Let the buyer beware.

of course. he really pitched his heart out last night because he loves his team now the cardinals. he got better in St. louis because he loves his team more. Either that or Jeff just suddenly got good or something. Congrats to the Cardinals and Jeff Weaver for winning the world series

I think the coaching from Dave Duncan has really resurrected his career. He was on the top of the junk pile and St. Louis gave him a chance and he did great. But the Tigers were down on their game - too much time off. Weaver can fall apart again, be warned.

absolutely, any experienced pitchers playing for st. louis will get better, dave duncan (pitching coach) is the best pitching coach in the mlb as far as taking struggling pitchers and turn things around, but isnt as good at developing rookie pitchers, if you are a cards fan after they aquire a crappy pitcher...be patient and you will soon know why they made the trade...as long as duncan is still the pitching coach

Happens a lot in all sports. Different environment, coaches, whatever change performance, confidence, etc.
Either way, we are happy to have him this year.
