Yes the light goes out. The door hits a "light switch" of sorts when closing that keeps the light off when pressed. When the door opens, the "switch" becomes unpressed and the light turns on. If you start to close the door and just close it enough to start hitting the switch, you'll be able to see the light turn off without the door being fully closed (but it basically needs to be just at closing). The "switch" will also be located in a spot where you can just do it with your finger...since it needs to be in an area where the door can hit it.

I couldn't help myself..I had to put my cam in the fridge to see if the light went out! Guess what?....it did! Doh! Really, if you have a fridge like "my oven"... and it's light doesn't go out when the door is closed it's because it's tweaked a lil' and doesn't hit the kill switch...so i bump it with my hip! What a great question..lol.

Yes. If you'll notice somewhere near the top of the fridge a switch-like device (or at least that's what we have for our fridge). If you touch it, the light should go off.

Yes it does. There should be a switch in your refrigerator, depending on the model, that the door hits when you close it. Thats what causes it to turn off. If you open the door and press it the light will go off.

If the light does not go out , your refrigerator will not cool properly. A 40 watt appliance bulb puts off so much heat that the refrigerator cannot compensate for the extra heat and things in the freezer will thaw and things in the fresh food compartment will be warm.

Yes. If you push the tab at the top of the door frame, the light goes out. Since the door must push that tab when it closes, it is reasonable to conclude that the light goes out when the door closes.

I think you are one of those guys who thinks that he is sooooo smart that he needs to tease others with such questions to see how dumb others are.
I'd use a AC Ampere Meter set to 0.5 Amp, connect it between fridge plug and mains socket, wait till the fridge motor doesn't work, and then measure the current between "door open" and "door closed".
Now that wasn't so difficult.....?.....

It should, because there is a switch in which when you close the door of your refrigerator the door will push the switch; causing the light to go out.

Yes it goes out, cuz when you have it opened there is a lil button right by the hinges that when you push the light goes out, meaning when you shut it and the door hits the button, the light goes out.
