I'm back and only got two answers the last time, so I thought I'd re-phrase and ask again. I woke up the other morning. My tumb on my left hand was in a fixed position,,,straight. It won't bend. I can take my right hand and bend the left thumb manually, but it hurts like hell, and the bone right under the thumb hurts. I don't think it's broken......It just came on all at ounce....and I get so tired of going to the DR. Has anyone else had this>

You probably have trigger thumb although waking up with the thumb in a bent position and having difficulty straightening it is the usual presentation of a trigger thumb. See an orthopedic or hand surgeon.

It sounds like some sort of arthritis or tendinitis/tendon rupture. Some causes can be infectious. See a rheumatologist or an orthopedic hand surgeon. You need an expert -- your thumb is important.

You should have a doctor look at this. Sounds like you ripped a tendon!
