My window has some type of black substance that probably was used for patching. It's only in the lower corner of window. I tried to clean it out scrap it out and it continues to run or seep out. what is this stuff.

sounds like someone used asphalt or tar based roofing sealer to repair a leaky window. you might try some mineral spirits to remove it, also a product called goo-gone works pretty well on petroleum based materials.

It's hard to say. It could be tar. goo gone works well with sticky gooey stuff. If this doesn't help try asking again with more detail. Eg. how much black stuff, consistency etc.

Hmmm try using a Qtip & clean the rest, Ive used perioxide to foam up so i can see. lol & You may want to Calk it again, put a towel around it to, if its leaking, if you have kids/pets/ make sure a Towel is around it, & cheap idea, TAPE, Duck tape, My dad uses it for lotts of stuff.
