I never could understand why some family members, think they are better than others, when you all have the same blood, running through your veins. Regardless of what you have accomplished out of life, it doesn't give you the right, to look down on others.

Being vain or prideful seems to be a characteristic of alot of people...it has been my experience that the more a person has been through in life...the more likely it is they will be humble and realize they are on an equal footing with everyone.

Sometime it takes time and tradgedy for people to learn this valuable lesson...that we all are equally precious ...just because we exist.... and each of us has an equal contribution to make to this world, whether we realize it or not...

It's nice to think that everyone could be so non judgmental, but sometimes people will judge you on the most insane things from the amount of money in your bank to the type of job you do to where you went to school! Unfortunately just because they are a family member it doesn't make them any less likely to judge in this manner. My brother and I come from the same background, yet we are very different people in terms of what we do with our lives and how we measure success. It is a shame because there is a distance between us as a result. However sometimes in life you just have to accept that things are just the way they are!!

Yes, it almost seems that way. We can't talk to these family members without them blabbing what we told them or asked them to other family members. We are in a hardship situation at this time, but have no one to turn to without it being public news. What could be their reason for being that way?

You do realize that it is you defining their behavior? What makes you think they "look down on others?" It is your reaction to them. Do not allow what they say or the way they act to make you feel "less than."

Sounds to me like you have a bit of a problem with self esteem.

well those family members are losers and if they look down upon some other family member it's just to feed their self esteem
